Privacy Policy
TarJim is built around a simple idea: your videos never leave your device. This policy explains exactly what that means, what information we do and do not collect, and how subscriptions are handled.
On this page
1. At a glance
TarJim does not collect analytics, telemetry, advertising identifiers, location, contacts, or any personal data. All transcription, translation, and subtitle rendering happens on your device. Nothing about your videos — audio, frames, text, or filenames — is transmitted to any server operated by us or a third party.
2. On-device processing
When you import a video into TarJim:
- Audio is extracted locally and transcribed by on-device machine-learning models.
- Translation is performed locally by an on-device model.
- Subtitles are rendered and burned into the output video locally.
- The only copies of your content exist on your device, inside the app's sandbox and (if you save) in your Photos library.
We have no ability to access, copy, or inspect any video you process with TarJim.
3. What we collect
Nothing from you directly. The app does not integrate analytics SDKs, crash-reporting SDKs, advertising SDKs, or attribution SDKs. We do not maintain user accounts, and we do not ask for your email, phone number, or any identifying information.
The only data stored outside your device is what Apple handles on our behalf to manage your subscription — see Subscriptions.
4. Network activity
TarJim is designed to work offline after first install. The app makes network requests only in these situations:
- Initial model download. On first launch, the app downloads the AI model files it needs from a public content-delivery network. No identifiers or account information are sent with this request beyond what any standard HTTPS file download includes.
- Subscription actions. When you purchase, restore, or cancel a subscription, the app communicates with Apple's StoreKit service. We do not see or receive your Apple ID, payment method, or billing details.
- Tapping an external link. If you tap a link in the app (for example, this policy), your browser opens the destination URL. That request is handled by your browser and the destination server, not by TarJim.
Beyond these, the app performs no background network activity.
5. Subscriptions and lifetime purchases
TarJim Pro is sold through Apple's in-app purchase system in two forms: an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or annual), and a one-time non-consumable Lifetime purchase. In both cases the transaction is processed, billed, and managed entirely through your Apple ID. We do not receive your name, email, credit-card details, billing address, or Apple ID.
What we receive from Apple is an anonymous purchase receipt that tells the app whether you have an active Pro entitlement. This receipt is stored locally on your device and validated with Apple's servers. It contains no personally identifying information.
You can view or cancel your auto-renewing subscription at any time from Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device. Lifetime purchases are one-time and have nothing to cancel; they can be restored on any device signed in to the same Apple ID through the app's Restore button.
6. Children's privacy
TarJim is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, please use the app only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
7. Data retention
Because TarJim does not transmit personal data to our servers, there is nothing about you on our side to retain or delete. Local content inside the app (imported videos, generated subtitles, model files, cached data) is under your control and can be cleared at any time from within the app or by deleting the app from your device.
8. Third parties
TarJim uses open-source libraries and model weights published by third parties under their respective licenses. These are bundled in or downloaded by the app and run entirely on your device; they do not transmit your content to their authors.
Details of these components, and links to the licenses that govern them, are listed in the app under Settings → Terms & Disclaimers → Third-Party Components.
9. Your rights
Because we do not collect personal data, most data-protection rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) are satisfied automatically: there is no personal data on our side to access, correct, delete, or export. If you have questions about your rights under applicable law (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, or other frameworks), contact us using the address below and we will respond in good faith.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be reflected in the next version of the app. Continued use of TarJim after an update means you accept the updated policy.
